This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website at www.ChronicleMyFamily.com, use our mobile applications (if any), or interact with our services (collectively, the "Service").

  • Family group creation/joining: Group names, member invitations (e.g., emails or usernames), relationships.
  • User-Generated Content: Text responses/answers to questions in family groups; uploads of images/videos (stored on Bytestream—see Section 6).
  • Communications: Emails or messages you send us (e.g., support requests, violation reports).

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device/IP data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, access times.
  • Usage data: Pages viewed, features used (e.g., group interactions), referral sources.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: For functionality, analytics, and security (see Section 7).

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Bytestream (media storage): We receive links and metadata (e.g., file names/sizes) but do not store media files ourselves.
  • Analytics providers: Aggregated usage stats (no personal identifiers shared without consent).

We do not collect sensitive data (e.g., precise geolocation, health info) unless voluntarily provided in User Content, in which case it remains your responsibility.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and improve the Service (e.g., enable family group sharing, display content).
  • Manage accounts and authenticate users.
  • Communicate with you (e.g., updates, support).
  • Moderate/report violations (e.g., objectionable content in groups).
  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., respond to subpoenas).
  • Analyze usage trends (aggregated/anonymized).

We do not use personal information for targeted advertising to children or sell data.

3. Sharing Your Information

We share information only as described:

  • With service providers (e.g., Bytestream for storage, hosting/cloud providers, analytics tools) under strict contracts.
  • To comply with law, protect rights/safety, or enforce our Terms.
  • In business transfers (e.g., merger/acquisition).

We do not share personal information for third-party marketing without consent.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our Service facilitates family groups, which may include minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and FTC rules (including 2025 amendments effective 2025–2026).

  • If we become aware of collecting from a child under 13 without consent, we delete it promptly.
  • Parents/guardians: You are responsible for supervising minors' use. Contact us at admin@chroniclemyfamily.com if you believe your child provided information without consent—we will delete it.
  • For child-directed portions or mixed-audience features: We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting/using/disclosing personal information from children under 13 (e.g., via email-plus or other FTC-approved methods).
  • Parents may review/delete their child's data or refuse further collection/use by contacting us.
  • We limit data retention for children's information to what's reasonably necessary and prohibit targeted ads/third-party disclosures without separate opt-in consent.

If your child uses the Service, please review this Policy with them.

5. Data Retention and Security

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described (or as required by law), then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, but no method is 100% secure.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Bytestream: Media files are uploaded/stored there. Review their privacy policy for details on their handling.
  • Other linked tools (e.g., analytics): Governed by their policies.

We are not responsible for third-party practices.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies for essential functions (e.g., login), performance, and limited analytics. You can manage preferences via browser settings, but disabling may limit functionality.

8. Your Rights (Including Minnesota Residents under MCDPA)

Minnesota residents may have rights under the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (MCDPA), including to:

  • Access/correct/delete personal data.
  • Opt-out of targeted advertising or sensitive data processing.
